A candle for Grandma Miller

March 26th, 2009

My grandmother died early Thursday morning.  She had been suffering from Alzheimers for about 9 years.  I hope that she is at peace and in a better place.  She was an incredible woman – she had a lot of life and fight and love in her.  She was a survivor and lived life to the fullest.  I am so happy that she was in my life and that she was my grandmother.  Tonight, Sunny asked me if I wanted to light a candle for grandma Miller.  Ella overheard Sunny and said, “Yes – let’s light a candle for grandma Miller”.  Ella picked out a candle asked Sunny for the fire (a match) and lit the candle.  We all just stood around with our eyes closed and put our beautiful thoughts out to the universe.  Here is Ella with the candle for Grandma Miller.  We love you – thank you for loving us!

A cute video of Ella dustbusting and making up a story

March 25th, 2009

Here is a video of Ella in action tonight.  First, she dustbusted the kitchen and then she was making up a skit (as Cinderella) about turning a pillow into a carriage.  Very cute.

Ella loves her crown

March 23rd, 2009

It makes me a little crazy when Ella walks around the house with her crown on.  I don’t really care about the crown, she just gets so goofy when her crown starts to fall off or gets displaced on her head.  I guess it’s hard to explain, but anyway, here are 2 cute pictures from today with Ella and her sundress and crown.

Saturday at the Academy of Science and the Japanese Tea Garden

March 22nd, 2009

Today was a really fun day.  We took Ella to the Academy of Science just to have some fun outside of the neighborhood.  She ran all over the place looking at things for about 10 seconds and moving onto the next thing.  It’s so great to watch Ella as she absorbs so many different things.  At the end of our visit, we went into the gift shop and she picked out a pair of binoculars.  She loves them and was so into looking at everything through her binoculars.  We stopped at the Japanese Tea Garden for some tea before we came home.  Tonight we had dinner at Phyllis and Michael’s and had a really sweet night.

Ella and the great outdoors

March 21st, 2009

Here are some sweet pictures of Ella playing around.  Some are from school and some are from this afternoon when we went to a park with Debby, Toby and Rachel.

Ella just loves life, and life loves Ella

March 19th, 2009

Ella actually had a little bit of a rough day today.  She pooped at school and didn’t wipe very well and had some poop in her underwear and she was uncomfortable.  Alicia asked her what was going on, and Ella said, “Is it ok if I had a little accident?” Alicia said of course it is.  Then Ella said that she thought we were going to be mad at her.  That is so sad.  They changed her clothes and there were no underwear left in her cubby.  Alicia put Ella’s leggings on without underwear.  Ella thought this was risky behavior.  Ella skipped lunch today and told Alicia that she wanted to go straight to sleep.  So sad.  When I picked her up today, she said, “Mama, are you mad?”  I told her that I wasn’t mad at all and that accidents happen to all of us and that we both loved her so much and she is a great kid.  I asked Ella why she didn’t eat and she said that she was too sad.  I asked her how she was feeling in the car and she said, “Not sad anymore”.  Even though Ella has her stressful moments, she is just such a lover of life.

Fun after school

March 18th, 2009

Most days after school, Ella and her buddy Brickelle play around on the playground and have a fun time fooling around while walking to our cars.  Here are some really cute pictures from today after school.

Puddle jumping

March 17th, 2009

Just wanted to post these pictures from Sunday.  Sunny and Ella went puddle jumping behind the ballpark.  The puddles weren’t really big, but they had a great time.

St. Patrick’s Day horses

March 15th, 2009

I had to go to work this morning and Sunny took Ella over to Becca’s to watch the beginning of the St. Patrick’s Day parade.  Ella was able to pet a shetland pony and was offered to go on a huge horse by Sheriff Hennessey, but Ella wasn’t in the mood to go on a big horse.  They had a lot of fun.  I met Becca, Sunny and Ella for lunch and then we came home.  We played here all day.  We went to Acme for dinner and Ella passed out before her mac and cheese arrived.  She actually woke up about 15 minutes later and sleepily ate her dinner.  We had a great day today.

Busy week

March 14th, 2009

It’s been a busy week.  This morning, we asked Ella if it was ok that we stay for the school assembly (she usually cries on Friday mornings and seeing us doesn’t help).  She said that it was OK and that she had a certain place that she wanted us to sit.  On the way into class this morning, we asked us to point out where she wanted us to sit and she did.  We sat there and Ella didn’t cry during the assembly.  She actually looked like she was having a good time.  She was clapping and smiling.  This is a huge milestone.  After school, Alicia told me that in class they were talking about Cesar Chavez and in the conversation they were talking about people who couldn’t afford things.  Alicia told me that Ella raised her hand and said, “I have a lot of money – I can buy them a house”.  Ella has been putting every penny, dime, nickle and quarter she can find around the house in her piggy bank.  She is doing some serious saving.  How sweet is it that she would want to give it all away to buy someone a house!  Tonight, Ella made brownies with Sunny and then the 3 of us had Friday night movie night.  We had brownies and popcorn and watched Ratatouille.  It was a great night.

assembly.jpg Ella at the assembly – I know she looks a little bit out of sorts, but it’s just the picture.  She really did have fun.
