Ella actually had a little bit of a rough day today. She pooped at school and didn’t wipe very well and had some poop in her underwear and she was uncomfortable. Alicia asked her what was going on, and Ella said, “Is it ok if I had a little accident?” Alicia said of course it is. Then Ella said that she thought we were going to be mad at her. That is so sad. They changed her clothes and there were no underwear left in her cubby. Alicia put Ella’s leggings on without underwear. Ella thought this was risky behavior. Ella skipped lunch today and told Alicia that she wanted to go straight to sleep. So sad. When I picked her up today, she said, “Mama, are you mad?” I told her that I wasn’t mad at all and that accidents happen to all of us and that we both loved her so much and she is a great kid. I asked Ella why she didn’t eat and she said that she was too sad. I asked her how she was feeling in the car and she said, “Not sad anymore”. Even though Ella has her stressful moments, she is just such a lover of life.

Thinking about Ella being sad makes me want to cry. I’m glad she got over it so quickly; I don’t know if I will. Love you. Mom
Oh our dear Ella-I am so moved to write this to you as some day when you’re older you will read this. You are the most beautiful girl and child in the world to me and to mama. When I read this, I was so sad that you were sad that you had an accident and I am so sorry you thought we would be mad at you. I want you to know, I would never be mad at you having an accident. All of us have accidents, even big people. I am so proud of who you are and I am so proud of everything you do. Please know you can tell us anything and we will always be with you. I love you and being with you and watching you grow up and that includes everything that goes with that-even “accidents”! You are the sun and the moon and the sky and the most beautiful butterflies.
