Ella had a very sweet rehearsal today. The regular teacher is out for the next 2 weeks so the new teacher has to help the girls get it together. Ella was really into it – so into her job as the leader. We’ll see how it comes out next Sunday. Enjoy the pics and video.

Monday, May 30th, 2011We’ve had a fun weekend. On Saturday night, Hannah, Naomi and Phyllis came over for lasagna and a little Wii dancing. Everyone loved the lasagna. Of course it was lots of fun doing the Wii dancing and Beatles Rock Band. Ella is thoroughly enjoying the games now…she pretty much has them figured out. Today, Sunny and I went to see Anna Deavere Smith do her show “Let Me Down Easy” at the Berkeley Rep while Ella hung out at home with Rachel. The show was great and Ella had a lot of fun with Rachel. Tonight, Ella’s friend Emmi came over for dinner and a sleep over. The girls had a great time – Ella even let Emmi wear her Hannah Montana dress! We had dinner at Amicis and then we watched Kung Fu Panda. Tomorrow, we are all going to see Kung Fu Panda 2 at the movie theatre.

Saturday, May 28th, 2011Tonight, Ella made lasagna (with only a little bit of direction/help from mommy). We’re having Phyllis and the girls over tomorrow night for dinner and they will enjoy Ella’s lasagna. I got a dental implant today so unfortunately, I won’t be able to enjoy it. Check out Ella’s hard work and focus.

Kissing Kids
Thursday, May 26th, 2011Well… here’s an e-mail that Sunny, four other parents and I got today from Alicia:Hello:I caught your kids this morning daring each other to go up to certain kids and kiss them on the lips. I talked to all 3 of them & reminded them that we had already had this conversation about not kissing each other as well as other children. Please talk to them reinforcing our rules at school of no kissing and touching each others bodies. Thank you!It turns out that 2 of Ella’s friends (one boy and one girl) were daring her to go kiss this other boy on the lips. She was going to do it, ended up not doing it, and it’s a good thing that it didn’t happen. Ya never know how the other kid would have reacted. Funny things that preschoolers do. The other night we had to talk to Ella about not licking people (like us!). Just another crazy stage she’s going through.After school, we came home, Stella and Juliet came over to play and have their piano lessons and then we all went out to dinner. It was a fun night – Ella was a little sensitive but she was fine. Mom, to answer your question – Ella is not too old to believe in the tooth fairy. Who knows when it’s going to come out, but this morning, Sunny and Ella were discussing where she may be when her tooth comes out. Sunny suggested that Ella may be in NJ for the big event. Ella thought that was great because there is a tooth fairy pillow in NJ!

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011This morning, when Ella was eating breakfast, she realized that one of her bottom teeth was wiggly. Ella was so excited. She was walking around with a huge smile on her face today…like she had this secret that made her so proud. It wasn’t much of a secret though – of course Ella told anyone who would listen and probably a few who wouldn’t listen! Ella has been reading up a storm. It’s gotten to the point where I caught her reading a text over my shoulder! Have to watch not only what we say but what we write! It’s really exciting. I told her that reading was like having magical super powers…now a whole new world is ready for her to explore.

I had a beautiful birthday
Monday, May 23rd, 2011This morning I woke up to beautiful Ella and beautiful Sunny showering me with flowers and cards and gifts. I love you guys. Thank you so much for such a beautiful birthday. We started the morning with a lovely brunch with Becca and Nikki B, then Ella, Sunny, Nikki B and I went to the ballgame (Giants won in the 11th inning!) and then we met our beautiful family next door at Benihana. After Benihana, Helen made my favorite banana pudding (Magnolia Recipe). It’s 11:18 and I’m having a little more right now. Thank you Helen. I love this ritual. Everything about the day was wonderful.

Great Saturday
Sunday, May 22nd, 2011Today was a great day. We all went to Ella’s t-ball game at 9:00 this morning. Ella is doing so well. She really has a lot of fun. After the game, we came home, walked Towby and then we all took a walk to the Ferry Building for lunch. Lunch was great and so was being outside for a long time. The weather was great despite a little obnoxious wind. Mommy too Ella to taekwondo and I stayed her and hung out with Nikki B. Tonight, we went to Pier 39 to have dinner at one of my favorite crab places…the crab house. Ella bungee jumped before dinner, and then we went to the carousel and arcade after dinner. Kate joined us and it was a wonderful night. I’m happy that judgement day didn’t happen today. I wanted to see what 43 would feel like and I am going to get to know tomorrow. Good night. Love you all.

Another fun filled Friday!
Saturday, May 21st, 2011Ella started her day with a CDS fashion show. The school has come out with a new “clothing line” of t-shirts and sweat shirts and some of the kids did a little fashion show during assembly. Ella was one of the kids who modeled a t-shirt. She was so cute and sweet and said that she had a lot of fun. Check out the movie below. After the assembly, Ella’s class, the leaping lizards had a culminating event in the classroom. The kids showed us their portfolios on the bee project that they have been working on since the beginning of the new year. Ella had some fantastic work in her portfolio. I will take some pictures and post the portfolio tomorrow. Alicia made a great video of the past 4 months of bee study with the whole class and then the kids took us around the classroom and showed us what they have learned about. Their bee vocabularies and their understanding about bees is amazing. Great job Alicia! Great job leaping lizrards! Great job Ella. After our sweet morning in the classroom, I went to the airport to pick up Nikki B. It was so great to see her and hang out. She’ll be here for the weekend to celebrate my birthday and have some fun. Thank you for coming Nikki B. We had a delicious lunch at Delfina Pizza and then picked up Sunny and Ella. We took Ella to t-ball practice and then had dinner at San Jalisco. After dinner we came home and watched UP. After Ella went to sleep, the 3 of us finished watching an amazing Giants game.

Friday, May 20th, 2011I asked permission to take a few movies during Ella’s swimming lesson today and the lifeguard was kind and let me. Check out how great Ella is getting at freestyle. She’s becoming an amazing swimmer.

Beautiful day – beautiful ballet
Tuesday, May 17th, 2011Ella told me she had a great day at school today. That is always a great thing to hear. Ella is also getting ready for a ballet recital at the Disney Museum in June. They rehearsed again a little bit this week. Ella will be leading the line of girls. I made a movie of ballet, taekwondo and a little wiffle ball that you can se at the end. Here are a few shots from ballet.
