Ella had a very busy day today which made my day very busy too and now I am exhausted. We started out today at Stella and Juliet’s house – Ella had a playdatewith Stella and Juliet and Kai and Mei. We would never say no to that! Two other friends, Max and Hannah who live in the building, also joined us. After some fun playing, Ella announced that she wanted to go home and eat gnocchi…so we did. After the gnocchi, we took a train down town – no stroller, no diaper bag, just Ella’s little back pack. She carried it on her back all the way to the train and then turned it over to me. Our journey down town was to buy Remy, the rat from Ratatouille. We also bought one for Stella and one for Juliet. They are having movie night tomorrow night and they will probably watch Ratatouille. After the trip down town, Ella came home and crashed for 2 1/2 hours. She woke up and we went to the park with the girls. Mommy met us there. Ella was so excited to give Remy to Stella and Juliet that she was squealing. Then we all played at the park and had a lot of fun.

Busy Friday
Saturday, February 23rd, 2008Independent
Thursday, February 21st, 2008Ella is definitely a two year old. She is going through all of the developmental stages that she’s supposed to be going through (lucky us!). One of the stages is establishing independence. Tonight, Sunny, Ella and I went out to dinner right by our place. As we were getting off the elevator, Ella looked at me and said, “No mama – you stay here. Don’t come.” I said, “OK – I’ll stay here”. Sunny felt bad for me and said, “I want mama to come with us – come on mama.” Ella then looked at both of us and said, “No mama, no mommy – don’t come with Ella.” We played along with her – we were like, “OK – we won’t come”. Ella took the house keys from us and proceeded to walk down the hall. When she was pretty far away from us, we heard her say, “I’m gonna get you, I’m gonna get you”. We took her cue, ran down the hall and got her. She loved it. Then I realized that I had my camera and I got some pretty good video of Ella trying to be independent. Then I got her by the elevator introducing herself…ballerina Ella…to the world.
Somersault
Wednesday, February 20th, 2008We had a fun filled night. The rain is back and Ella is happy. She loves the rain – she loves getting wet and loves wearing her boots and splashing in the puddles. After dinner, we went to the courtyard and Ella splashed around in the puddles and ran around in the rain. When we came in, we read books and then Ella started to do somersaults. She was talking and talking and doing somersaults and I caught some of it on video.

Fairyland five months later
Monday, February 18th, 2008The first time Ella went to Fairyland was in September, with Stella and Juliet. She had a blast (mostly because she was with her best friends), but she was also a little scared of some stuff there. There is a Fairyland video archived from September that shows us putting Ella and Juliet on a ferris wheel. They were both very young (under 2) and were freaked out by it. Times have changed. Today, we went to Fairyland and met our friends Susan and Jennifer, who were spending the weekend with their 2 1/2 year old niece, Rebecca. On the way there, I asked Ella if she was willing to go on the ferris wheel with Rebecca. Ella watches the old Fairyland video every night before she goes to sleep, so she is very aware of the catastrophe it was the last time she went on. She told me that she would go on it and that she wouldn’t cry, that she would be brave. She went on it today, and she was incredible. So was Rebecca who never experienced it before. Ella had a great time today and hit it off with Rebecca. She also played around with a lot of other kids. There is a video accompanying this entry and at one point, Sunny caught Ella on video being quite social. She was walking up to kids saying, “My name is Ella, what’s your name?” or “What’s my name…ELLA! What’s your name”. She did it to this one kid and when she said, “What’s your name?” she poked him and he told her that she shouldn’t poke people. It’s all on the video.

Ella, the doggies and the spider
Friday, February 15th, 2008Ella is feeling better every day. She’s not 100%, but she’s much better than she was earlier in the week. I kept her out of My Gym today because I would be pretty pissed off at a parent if they brought their kid to the class in Ella’s condition. Instead, Ella and I took a nice long walk to the Ferry Building. She loves that spider sculpture and spent almost 1/2 hour dancing, playing and walking around it. Tonight, Sunny, Ella and I had dinner at Acme. At the end of the meal, they brought us 2 little heart cookies. One was chocolate, one vanilla. Ella was playing around with some paper and crayons – she was actually hiding the crayons under the paper. She took a bite of the chocolate cookie and didn’t really seem interested. She then hid it under her paper. Mommy decided to have the cookie and took it without letting Ella know. A few minutes later, Ella picked up the paper and said, “Where did the cookie go?” Sunny looked at her and said, “I ate it.” Ella gave Sunny a look that we never saw before. It was like, “I can’t believe you did that!” Pretty cute – Sunny got Ella 2 more cookies, and Ella handed her the vanilla cookie and said, “Mommy eat it all up.” It was super sweet.

Here is a video of Ella at the spider today. It’s a little long, but she was just having so much fun. The end of the video is Ella singing “Side By Side” which she spontaneously burst into.
At the ballet
Wednesday, February 13th, 2008Ella has a bad cold and cough. Her nose is all red and her eyes are watery. Much too pathetic to take pictures of. Ella loves watching her videos and loves watching herself do ballet, so I put this video together for her to watch. I hope you enjoy it too. It starts out on the first night of Chanukah when Ella received her first ballet outfit from Helen’s parents. It goes all the way up to the other night. As you will notice, Ella needs to take ballet lessons from Stella.
Peeing on the potty
Monday, February 11th, 2008Ella woke up with a pretty bad cough and cold today. I asked her if she was ok, if anything was bothering her, and she said, “I need Tylenol”. It was pretty cute. All Ella wanted to do all morning was ballet. I put her white outfit on her and she danced everywhere. I left at noon to get a massage and Sunny really wanted to take Ella outside for a walk (the weather has been beautiful this weekend), but Ella refused to take off her “ballet”. They went to the Zen garden and painted with water. Ella went down pretty late for a nap and didn’t wake up until 6:15. After her bath, she was running around without her diaper. At one point, she told me that she had to pee so we ran into the bathroom. She sat on her potty and nothing happened. She came back into the room with me and then ran out again. She looked at Sunny and said, “I want to pee for Bug and Towby”. Sunny took her into the bathroom and Ella did it! She was really excited. I got Ella on video right after she had her jellybeans.

Here is a picture from last night at dinner. Phyllis and Michael came over, Ella danced and played with them all night.
I PEED ON THE POTTY MOVIE
Pictures almost too cute to look at
Saturday, February 9th, 2008Ella woke up from her nap tonight (5:20) and said, “I want to wear ballet. I want to put on tights and a skirt and a ballet shirt”. How could I say no? I put her ballet get up on and we went to let the dogs out.
Can you believe how big she looks! We went to Helen and Ron’s house and hung out with the clan.
Can they be any cuter? The girls were all curled up on the sofa together watching “Ratatouille”. I love how much they love each other.
Juliet ran out of her house wearing her rain boots so of course, Ella had to put her rain boots on.
Look out world – here come the Mullet SistersAnd for tonight’s video. Ella sings Happy Birthday to Normyn, her beautiful dachshund cousin
Dancing and singing
Friday, February 8th, 2008Ella and I had a great day today. We went to My Gym in the morning. While we were at My Gym, during “separation time” (where the kids play with each other and the parents sit off to the side) there were these puppet/stuffed animals all over for the kids to play with. Ella was playing with the instruments and the animals and she really took a liking to this frog puppet. It was time to clean up and Ella helped clean everything up, but she wouldn’t take her finger out of the frog puppet. I had to bring her into the room where they stored the stuff in order to get her to give it up. I also had to promise her that we would look for a frog just like that one after lunch. I have to start paying attention to what I say now that Ella is not only completely verbal but she also remembers everything. After My Gym, we had lunch along the water. When Ella finished her lunch, she looked at me and said, “Mama, I’m finished with my grilled cheese and french fries – now it’s time to go to the store to find the frog”. Oy…so we hopped on a train and went downtown to Jeffrey’s toy store. We found not one, but 2 little froggies. Ella was in the store, holding them and said, “I want to take these home”. I told her that we were going to buy them and take them home”. She began to cry and said, “I don’t want to buy them, I want to take them home”. I tried to explain the whole concept of buying to Ella, but that’s not so smart when a child is crying, so I just dropped it. We walked home from the place and the froggies never left her fingers. When we came home, it was time for Ella’s nap, but the nap never happened. Ella did lay down for a few minutes but then she made her announcement, “MAMA, I’M AWAKE!” Thanks for letting me know Ella. Mommy came home from work and we had dinner at Helen and Ron’s. The girls had a really great time. None of them were really into eating, but they played really well together while the 4 of us ate. Ella fell asleep at 9:00 tonight – early for her.
Here are 2 videos. One is from the other day when she was doing her version of ballet in her little white outfit, and the other movie is from today. It’s of Ella singing her interpretation of “Part Of Your World” from the Little Mermaid. She learned the song all by herself from watching the movie which is really impressive. If you know the song, you’ll appreciate the video.
H&M has some really cute stuff
Tuesday, January 29th, 2008Today I was doing some last minute shopping – went to the mall to get Ella some socks, Sunny gloves and me a hat and I ended up at H&M in the kid’s section and they had the most adorable ballet stuff. I picked up some pink tights, a tutu and a leotard for Ella. I also got 3 of these really cute white leotards for Ella, Stella and Juliet. I put Ella in her ballet outfit which she was just crazy about. Then Mommy came home and Ella danced the night away. She ate in her ballet outfit and finally let us take it off when it was time for a bath. Here are some ballet pictures and a video.

Here we are at the end of the evening. Ella climbed up on me and gave me a great big hug. She started to pat my arm which was so sweet and I patted her back. This made her giggle.BALLET MOVIE
