Happy Birthday Aunt Heather

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

I’m going to take a break from potty talk to wish Heather a happy birthday. We love you! Don’t work too hard.

And now a message from your niece…

Lock down is over

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

Potty training isn’t over, but we left the house with Ella twice today. This morning, we hung around. Ella wanted to wear big girl underwear and although the potty guru doesn’t recommend it so early on in the training, we did it anyway. Ella went on the potty 2 times and then we decided that after the second time, it would be a good time to take her out. We did a family field trip to Target to look for another portable potty. Ella was fantastic and even made a pee on the portable potty that we had in the car. We got Ella this little Backyardigans couch thing and when we got home, Ella opened it up (like a little bed) and took a nap on it! She did not have an accident during her nap and about 15 minutes after she woke up, she made another pee. The poop is a little more difficult for Ella. She gets pretty uncomfortable and it takes her a while to finally surrender to her poops. Tonight, we went out to dinner with Helen, Ron, Stella and Juliet to this restaurant called Axis that has a family night every Monday. It was a lot of fun, but the service was more than slow and Ella slowly melted down. First, when we got there, she had an accident and made a pee. We changed her and she was fine. She actually went to the bathroom about an hour later and had a successful pee. When we got home, we could tell that Ella had to poop, but she did it in her underwear before we could throw her on the potty. She is doing a great job and this has been quite taxing and intense but it’s so worth it to give Ella some more independence.

Day 3 of lock down

Monday, August 4th, 2008

Ella did a fantastic job today. She only had one accident (it was pee not poop!) We spent the day painting, playing with stickers, watching Dora, Diego etc… Sunny left the house in the morning to work out and I left in the afternoon to go get a massage. I think Ella has really enjoyed lock down. She has both of her mommies around all day and night, she has been wearing a sun dress every second of every day, she has all these new art supplies, gets to have jelly beans every time she pees or poops – how could life be bad? At around 4:30 we went over to the Arena/Kim household and played over there. Ella made her only poop of the day at their house. It’s so great to have so much potty training support and friendship over there. Juliet is doing amazing potty training too, and Stella is an expert. Tomorrow we are going to venture out into the world with big girl underwear on for a few hours at a time and see what happens. Stay tuned…

Day 2 of lock down

Sunday, August 3rd, 2008

Today was very different than yesterday. Ella still didn’t ask for any diapers which was great, but she was a little more resistant about using the potty. Ella went on the potty about 5 times today, which in a way was a relief because 13 times in one day was a bit tedious! Ella had 2 accidents and made a poop on the floor but she has been doing so well with her potty training. At around 1:00, Becca came over to say hi to Ella and then Amy and Emily came by. Ella was really happy to have some other people around. In the early evening, Helen and the girls came over and then we went over to their place. We brought Ella’s potty and it was still technically lock down because we didn’t go outside. We had dinner and then Ron blew up the bouncy house and Ella got to blow off some steam which was much needed. Ella made a pee at Stella and Juliet’s house. Stella, Juliet and Ella also peed at our house. What a beautiful thing to have friends help!

Day 1 of lock down

Saturday, August 2nd, 2008

Today was fantastic. Ella was a champion! She didn’t have any arguments about not having a diaper. She walked over to the potty and peed 13 times! The only time she missed was when I was filling up the bath. I guess the water sound made her pee and Ella’s little potty was in the other room. I didn’t even realize that she peed but then all of a sudden she flushed the toilet and told me that she wanted me to wipe her. I asked her if she peed and she said that she did it on the floor. Instead of telling her that an accident was ok, I told her what the teacher told us to say, “Pee goes in the potty”. She said, “OK”. Our friend Julie came over for dinner – she was the first visitor that Ella had all day. Ella was very proud telling Julie about using the potty today. Finally, after dinner at around 8:30, Ella made a poop on the potty! I took a picture of it but Sunny told me not to put it on the blog. I’m sure everyone that is reading this is agreeing with Sunny, but if anyone wants to see it, just let me know and I will e-mail it to you. Today was a terrific day. Only 2 more days of lock down.

Last day and night before lock down

Friday, August 1st, 2008

We keep reminding Ella that there will be no more diapers on Friday and she keeps saying, “OK – no more diapers”. We’ll see what happens tomorrow morning. We did our regular day today – My Gym, lunch at Crossroads Cafe, walking home, etc. Mommy came home and we played in the hallway – Ella is getting really good at kicking the ball and catching the ball. We went to Acme tonight for the last diaper supper. Ella fell asleep at the table because she didn’t take a nap today. For those of you who love Ella in pig tails, you’ll enjoy these pictures. Wish us luck tomorrow.
