Ella, Bug and Towby

Friday, November 16th, 2007

So today, I thought it would be a good idea to take some pictures of Bug, Towby and Ella together. What I realized was that I can either photograph doggies or a toddler but doing it both together is pretty difficult.

This could have been a great one…where are the doggies going?

Well…now the dogs are cooperating but why has Ella decided to start singing?

The different shirts are pre-nap and post nap. She also has a post-nap ponytail. Here are a few more shots.

Photos from “The Cove”

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

I have to credit Ron for the photos from the blog tonight. We met up with Ron and the girls at McCovey Cove. The cove is a block from the house – AT&T Park and the Bay Bridge are in the background. Here is a series of amazing shots.cove1.jpgcove2.jpgcove3.jpgcove4.jpgcove5.jpgcove6.jpgAfter all the activity at the cove, we went back to Stella and Juliet’s house and played in the bouncy house!bouncyhouse.jpg

Ella’s Second Birthday

Monday, November 12th, 2007

Wow – I have a lot of pictures to show, a lot of beautiful things to say about Ella, a lot of people to thank for making it such a beautiful evening and I am just so exhausted. Seriously – today was a beautiful day and night. Ella woke up a little early (7:30) this morning. She has been sleeping through the night like a champion ever since we cut out the night time bottle. The three of us went downstairs, lit a candle in a cupcake, sang happy birthday to Ella – she loved it, and then had Ella blow out the candle. Sunny and I took Ella to the park to swing on the swings, then we went to the other little park for a while and finally met Becca and Tucker for a little lunch. Ella walked Tucker home for a little bit.

Here are the pictures from the beginning of the day…

Here are some of the cupcakes that I made. I baked a total of 60 cupcakes (12 were a trial run) and the other 48 were legit birthday cupcakes. They were pretty good.

Ella took a nap after lunch, Sunny and I got our act together for phase 2 of the party and with so much help from Helen and Ron, we made it over to My Gym and were ready to roll. As you will see from the pictures below, the evening was very busy – full of activities. All of Ella’s favorite little people and some of her favorite big people were there. I put a video at the very end of all this. It’s only one small part when Ella made her birthday girl debut and then everyone singing happy birthday.

Ella’s last night being a one year old

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

It’s so wild to us that Ella is going to be two tomorrow. We had a really mellow day…it was raining and we are all recovering from our colds so it was a great day to just enjoy the great indoors. The other day, Sunny ordered this learning tower thing. It basically is this “tower” that Ella can climb up on and be level with the counter. It has sides so it’s safe for her to be able to hang out at the counter with us on her own. She really likes it. There is a video at the end of Ella on her tower, talking, eating and dancing.

South side of Chicago reunion

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

Tonight, Sunny, Ella and I took BART to Pleasanton to meet up with an old friend of Sunny and Phyllis, Debi.   Phyllis also met us out there. Ella had a great time hanging out with the girls.

Another milestone

Friday, November 9th, 2007

Tonight, we were just finishing up dinner – Ella was eating pomegranate seeds and a tofutti cutie, and we looked over at her and she was taking her arm out of the sleeve of her shirt and putting it back in. She kept doing this and then she was pulling on her shirt in all different kinds of ways. Sunny and I just pretended that we didn’t see anything going on, and a few minutes later, Ella took her shirt off. She took out one arm, then the other and then she pulled the shirt over her head. I know this may not sound like a big deal to most, but it’s pretty cool to us when Ella does things for the first time.

Ella’s birthday is coming up on Sunday and she has been getting some presents in the mail. Last night, she got a very fancy coat from her uncle Danny (see pictures below) and tonight she got a very special photo book from grandma and papa. It is a regular photo album, but when you push a button, each photo has a recorded message. It’s really beautiful. Ella was kind of blown away hearing grandma and papa talk to her from the book. At one point, papa asks her a question about a stop sign and Ella answers him (caught on video…see below).

smile.jpg
Here is Ella in her very fancy jacket. We just have to get the rest of the outfit right. She really did not want to take the jacket off at all! I finally got it off of her when she was so sweaty that she couldn’t take it anymore!

Would anyone like to join me at the opera?

Tomorrow

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

Here is a video of Ella singing “Tomorrow” from Annie. As she was singing, she was looking through her Dora book and she became very distracted when she saw the grumpy old troll. The last part is from a singing session about 2 minutes earlier that was cut short by Bug barking.

Ella the ballerina

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

Sunny and Ella had their beautiful Monday together. They took the train to Acrasport and Ella did a great job in the class. Sunny reported that Ella did an especially great job climbing. Sunny had to leave to go do some work so I came home from work a little early. Not 10 minutes after I came home, Stella and Juliet were knocking on the door. The girls played hard together. I had to go out for a minute so I left Ella with the girls and Helen. When I came back, Ella and Stella were wearing ballet skirts. Stella loves ballet and she always runs around in a leotard and ballet skirt and ballet slippers, but this was a first for Ella. We had a great dinner over at the Kim/Arena household and then the girls played a little more. Sunny came home in time to do some yoga with Ella and to give her a bath.ballerina.jpgElla about to do a ballet leaplollipopparaty.jpgHere are the girls having a lollipop party – Juliet has one too, you just can’t see it in the picturebabies.jpgThis picture was taken about a year and 4 months agoballet.jpgI can’t believe how much they have grown!moreronny.jpgHaving a blast with Ronyoga.jpgElla doing yogaflying.jpgLook – I’m flying!bathhair.jpgCheck out Ella’s bath hair

Ella’s lyrics

Monday, November 5th, 2007

We all know that Ella LOVES singing and she does a great job at it.  She often mumbles over lyrics or makes up words that don’t exist in the English language.  Yesterday, she did the cutest thing in a song and I had to share it.  She was singing the song Tomorrow from Annie at the top of her lungs and it was going really well…”The sun’ll come out, tomorrow, bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow…there’ll be sun.  Just thinkin’ about tomorrow, clears away the cowboys and the sorrow”… Yes – she substituted cobwebs for cowboys…you just have to love this child.

Tonight, Sunny cooked a delicious dinner for the 3 of us and Helen, Ron, Stella and Juliet.  We had a lot of fun.  Ella and Stella had fun playing the piano and singing.

Here is a video that I made in the end of last January.  Its really the first video of Ella walking by herself.  Check out how young Ella Stella and Juliet are.  What a trip!  It’s almost 3 1/2 minutes, but check out some of it.

A huge milestone

Sunday, November 4th, 2007

We had a really sweet night tonight which I will talk about in a moment. Now for the milestone…Sunny was getting Ella ready for bed tonight. Ella was sitting on Sunny’s lap without a diaper on and Sunny was reading her a book. Out of nowhere, Ella looked at Sunny and said, “I have to pee”. Sunny said, “OK, let’s go to the bathroom and sit on the potty”. Ella jumped off of Sunny’s lap, walked into the bathroom, Sunny lifted the lid to Ella’s potty and Ella sat down. First Ella said, “Psssssssss” and then all of a sudden, she peed. Then she wiped herself and walked away as if she owned the world.

So tonight, Sunny Ella and I took a walk to the Ferry Building to grab a bite to eat. Ella walked about 3/4 mile there all by herself, and about 1 mile back. She’s so beautiful and full of life. We had a great night tonight just all being together.

It was actually a beautiful warm night, but Ella wanted to wear her 2 different gloves.
