Playing in the park

Monday, December 31st, 2007

The sun came out today and we went to 2 parks. The first park was still a little wet from yesterday’s rain, but Ella still had a good time. We went to the second park after Ella’s nap and it was loads of fun. I forgot to write something yesterday…Ella hit another milestone – she used the potty to make a poop all by herself! If anyone wants details, let me know. Here are some great shots from the day.

When we got to the park, Mommy suggested that Ella put her gloves on. Ella said, “I don’t want to put on my gloves”. Then Ella went to go on to the merry go round and she touched the cold steel and said, “I want to put on my gloves – it’s cold”. This is a picture of Mommy putting Ella’s gloves on.

Museum and ballet

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

Today we had a really great day. It was a little rainy/misty out, but we all decided to take a walk up to the SFMOMA. There was a really cool exhibit there called “Take your time: Olafur Eliasson”. The exhibit is all about the senses – he does a lot of stuff with light, smell and moisture. Ella loved it. She sat in one room for about 5 minutes on the ground on mommy’s lap looking at the colors changing. She kept telling us that she wanted to go to the next room. We went into the regular museum and she even loved it there. She was so amazing at the museum. We all had lunch afterwards and then Ella went down for a nap. After the nap, Ella got all dressed up in her ballet outfit and danced around for Grandma and Papa. Ella even got to spend a little bit of time with Stella and Juliet this evening. When Stella saw Ella in her ballet outfit, she immediately told her parents that she wanted to be in her ballet outfit too. We had a great dinner and watched the football game with papa. The Giants almost won the game. Ella cheered along. Ella is now sleeping after a bath and some bedtime stories.

Ella was an eating machine today

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

Ella is a decent eater – she doesn’t really dig into her breakfast, she eats a good lunch and a good dinner. Today, she woke up, ate Malt-O-Meal (a farina like hot cereal), a strawberry bar and an orange. Then she ate gnocchi for lunch and part of Papa’s cheese sandwich. She ate some pirate’s booty and M&M’s for a snack. Later on in the day, she ate 2 things of corn and then insisted that Sunny make rice pilaf. She ate 2 bowls of rice pilaf with a fork in each hand. Then she had broccoli and tofu. She fell asleep very early tonight, probably due to all of the food she had!

Ella gets her nails done

Friday, December 28th, 2007

Today, we took Ella to a nail salon across the street from our place to get her first manicure. Ella was very serious when we were there. She picked her colors – red and blue and then sat on grandma’s lap while Kelly polished her nails. The whole experience was lots of fun. I think it was more fun for us than for Ella. Just watching her was pure pleasure. Here are some pictures and a video.

Ella had a very busy day today with Grandma, Papa, Jesse and Heather. Sunny and I took the “day off” and went to a very cool place called iFlySF. We went to this place that has this silo type structure that simulates a free fall. We basically went sky diving indoors. It was really cool and I am trying to get the video off this DVD we got there so I can post our “jumps”. It was a blast. We had such a great time and it was so wonderful to know that Ella was having a fantastic day. Ella and Co. took a walk downtown, had lunch at Nordstrom, went to the Lucky Kid store and picked up some amazing clothes, went to the carousel on the way home, and took a long nap. Sunny and I came home at around 4:30 and we headed out to dinner at around 6:30. Here are some pictures from dinner.

Friends and family

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

This has been a full week of a lot of beautiful friends and family. Nikki B left of Monday morning and we opened presents with Stella and Juliet on Monday evening (Helen gave all 3 girls this amazing thick, soft robe with their names on it) the girls weren’t very cooperative for the camera that night so stay tuned for a bathrobe picture. In the evening, we had Chinese food and music at our house with Phyllis, Michael, Dave, Karen, Kate and Julie. It was a really sweet night filled with fun and music. This morning, Grandma and Papa arrived for a whole week! Ella is walking on cloud 9. Tomorrow we get to see Jesse and Heather who are in town for a few days.

The Discovery Museum on Stella’s 3rd Birthday

Monday, December 24th, 2007

Stella turned 3 today and we began celebrating really early this morning with cupcakes. After cupcakes, we all piled into their mini-van and went to the Bay Area Discovery Museum. It was a great morning. The girls had a good time – Ella really practiced sharing today. You’ll see it in the video. Juliet is amazing practice for Ella since Ella kind of treats her like a little sister. They really have a sibling thing going and you’ll also be able to see this at the very end of the video. It’s priceless.

Saturday afternoon highlights

Sunday, December 23rd, 2007

Nicky B is still here and we are continuing to have a lot of fun. Yesterday, Ella, Nicole and I took a ride to Berkeley to go to the North Face outlet. We told Ella that we were going to Berkeley and she was pretty excited in the car to go to a new place. She kept saying, “We are going to Berkeley now”. When we got to the outlet, Ella looked around for a few minutes and then she was ready to go. She looked up at me and said, “I want to go to the other Berkeley”. Pretty smart kid. After about 1/2 hour, we did end up going to “the other Berkeley” and had lunch.

Today, we took a walk to the Farmer’s Market at the Ferry Building. On the way to the ferry building, there is a sculpture of a spider by Louise Bourgeois that Ella loves. She loves to touch it and walk all around it. Watch the movie at the end of this entry – it’s pretty good.

AND NOW FOR THE SPIDER MOVIE…

Ella is so strong!

Friday, December 21st, 2007

The title is for the movie that you will see at the end. Ella hung on a bar at My Gym all by herself for at least 6 seconds. Nicky B came to town yesterday and we’ve been spending some great time together.

Here’s a cute Ella story. Tonight, we were having dinner at Acme and there was a table of some people who looked familiar to us. One of the people came over to the table and we were all trying to figure out how we knew each other. At one point, the woman said that she went to Barnard/Columbia and I asked her if she knew Jamie. She asked how old Jamie was and I told her. The woman said, “Oh, I’m much older, I’m 42”. At that point, Nicole and I were like, “Well, we’re going to be 40 this year!” Sunny then said, “I have at least ten years on you guys – I’m 53”. Without missing a beat, Ella looked over at the lady and said, “I am 2”. It was so cute and funny and she actually understood our conversation! She’s a trip.

Ella is really becoming a 2 year old

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

Ella has been showing us quite a few signs that she has come into the beautiful, not terrible age of 2. She is incredibly head strong, gets frustrated pretty quickly and really knows what she wants. The other day, we were going to the park and she wanted to wear her slippers on the walk. No matter what I did or said, she insisted on wearing the slippers…Ella won.

slippers.jpg
Yes, those are her slippers

Today I bought her this little wind up mouse toy. It had fur and was pretty life like. I wound it up, put it on the counter and watched Ella’s reaction. She looked at me and said, “I don’t like it – I want to throw it in the garbage”. I convinced her that we shouldn’t throw it away and then she decided that she wanted to give it to Juliet.

Tonight, we took Hannah and Naomi out for their 20th birthdays. We all had a lot of fun. Ella loves them! Check out this happy birthday picture.
