Peeing on the potty

Monday, February 11th, 2008

Ella woke up with a pretty bad cough and cold today. I asked her if she was ok, if anything was bothering her, and she said, “I need Tylenol”. It was pretty cute. All Ella wanted to do all morning was ballet. I put her white outfit on her and she danced everywhere. I left at noon to get a massage and Sunny really wanted to take Ella outside for a walk (the weather has been beautiful this weekend), but Ella refused to take off her “ballet”. They went to the Zen garden and painted with water. Ella went down pretty late for a nap and didn’t wake up until 6:15. After her bath, she was running around without her diaper. At one point, she told me that she had to pee so we ran into the bathroom. She sat on her potty and nothing happened. She came back into the room with me and then ran out again. She looked at Sunny and said, “I want to pee for Bug and Towby”. Sunny took her into the bathroom and Ella did it! She was really excited. I got Ella on video right after she had her jellybeans.

Giant’s Fan Fest

Saturday, February 9th, 2008

Today was a fan fest across the street at the ballpark. Sunny had to work there for the Giant’s Community Fund Board so we decided to go early as a family and walk around. Ella was really excited to see Lou Seal the mascot. We all walked around and then we sat in the stands and got some french fries and hung out. The field was full of dirt from the motorcycle thing that they did 2 weeks ago, so there wasn’t anything going on on the field. There was a live radio show happening and people were clapping from time to time so Ella joined in with the clapping – very cute. After that, mommy had to go to her volunteer stand and I took Ella up to see Lou Seal. Lou Seal won’t hold a child alone, so I had to ask these strangers to take a picture of us with Lou Seal. Then Ella told me that she wanted to see Charlie Brown. She posed for a picture with the Charlie Brown Met Life statue and as we were walking back to go see mommy, we saw Lou Seal again. He bent down so that Ella would walk over to him, and she did – hesitantly, but she did. It was so cute. At one point she did this little shuffle over to him so that she could touch his hand. We had a great time. We went to say goodbye to mommy so we could go home and have lunch/take a nap and Ella didn’t want to leave mommy. She kept saying, “Where is mommy? I want a kiss from mommy. I want to see mommy”. I explained that mommy had to work for a little while. Sunny is home now and Ella is napping and I’m sure she will be very happy when she wakes up and sees mommy.

Ella woke up from her nap tonight (5:20) and said, “I want to wear ballet. I want to put on tights and a skirt and a ballet shirt”. How could I say no? I put her ballet get up on and we went to let the dogs out.ballet.jpgCan you believe how big she looks! We went to Helen and Ron’s house and hung out with the clan.mm3girls.jpgCan they be any cuter? Dancing and singing

Ella and I had a great day today. We went to My Gym in the morning. While we were at My Gym, during “separation time” (where the kids play with each other and the parents sit off to the side) there were these puppet/stuffed animals all over for the kids to play with. Ella was playing with the instruments and the animals and she really took a liking to this frog puppet. It was time to clean up and Ella helped clean everything up, but she wouldn’t take her finger out of the frog puppet. I had to bring her into the room where they stored the stuff in order to get her to give it up. I also had to promise her that we would look for a frog just like that one after lunch. I have to start paying attention to what I say now that Ella is not only completely verbal but she also remembers everything. After My Gym, we had lunch along the water. When Ella finished her lunch, she looked at me and said, “Mama, I’m finished with my grilled cheese and french fries – now it’s time to go to the store to find the frog”. Oy…so we hopped on a train and went downtown to Jeffrey’s toy store. We found not one, but 2 little froggies. Ella was in the store, holding them and said, “I want to take these home”. I told her that we were going to buy them and take them home”. She began to cry and said, “I don’t want to buy them, I want to take them home”. I tried to explain the whole concept of buying to Ella, but that’s not so smart when a child is crying, so I just dropped it. We walked home from the place and the froggies never left her fingers. When we came home, it was time for Ella’s nap, but the nap never happened. Ella did lay down for a few minutes but then she made her announcement, “MAMA, I’M AWAKE!” Thanks for letting me know Ella. Mommy came home from work and we had dinner at Helen and Ron’s. The girls had a really great time. None of them were really into eating, but they played really well together while the 4 of us ate. Ella fell asleep at 9:00 tonight – early for her.

Here are 2 videos. One is from the other day when she was doing her version of ballet in her little white outfit, and the other movie is from today. It’s of Ella singing her interpretation of “Part Of Your World” from the Little Mermaid. She learned the song all by herself from watching the movie which is really impressive. If you know the song, you’ll appreciate the video.

Ballet and Tucker

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

Ella had a great day. The sun was shining and we spent a lot of time outside. We painted Ella’s nails.  Ella picked out nail polish with glitter. She told me to put glitter on my nails too and I did. We had one last ballet outfit from H&M to give Ella and we gave it to her tonight. She loved it and danced around and around in circles. We had dinner and then Becca and Tucker came over to watch the Super Tuesday results. Ella was so excited to see both of them but Tucker beat out Becca. Ella kept going up on different pieces of furniture and saying, “Come here Tucker, come up here”. It was really sweet. Ella also told Mommy and Becca to put on the sparkle nail polish and they did.ballet1.jpgVery serious ballerinaballet2.jpgElla in mid-spinballet3.jpgA frog ballerinaballet4.jpgCheck out the muscles on Ella’s armsballet5.jpgWhat a big girlballet6.jpgElla and her dance partner Bugellatucker.jpgElla giving Tucker a kissellatucker2.jpgElla loves her buddy Tuckerwreck.jpgThe end of a long day and night – a little bit of a wreck

Back in SF

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

Going back to work was no fun after such a great weekend. Before I forget – I want to give a shout out to Ester who was part of our beautiful visiting brigade on Saturday. I’m so sorry I didn’t mention you last night…must have been the Ambien. Ella loves the Japanese toys you gave her and the organic lollipops are a huge hit. Sunny went online this morning and ordered a box of 150. Ella slept for a long time last night. She woke up at about 6:30 raring to go. She kind of crashed right around the time of her yoga class. Sunny said that Ella did well for about 20 minutes and then she pretty much crashed and burned. She took a long nap this afternoon and then we had our Monday night dinner with Stella, Juliet, Helen and Ron. The girls had a great time together. At one point, we brought down the huge Dora tent and set up Yo Gabba Gabba on the DVD player and they were all huddled up watching it together. It was really sweet. Ella is sleeping now and I think I have to go to sleep too.

Saturday full of love

Monday, February 4th, 2008

We’re back in SF and the NY Giants won the Super Bowl today. HOORAY GIANTS. Maybe the SF Giants will do something for us this year. Anyway…we had a beautiful day on Saturday in NJ and I wanted to document it. In the morning, my mom’s friend Doris brought her grandson Hudson over to play with Ella. They played together over the summer and hit it off.

Ella and Hudson were sweet to watch together.

After Doris and Hudson left, we had a little down time between friends.

Papa and Ella did some are work together. Papa outlined the shapes and Ella told him what they were and colored them in.

KK, Jordin and Kevin came over a little while later. KK brought Ella a new lavender tutu, a Capezio box to carry her ballet gear, and a lavender leotard. As soon as Ella saw her gift, she said, “I want to put it on, I want to do ballet”.

After about 1/2 hour of ballet, Ella decided that she wanted a chocolate popsicle so she changed out of the ballet outfit and back to her street clothes. Here is a picture of Ella and grandma and papa’s friend Diana. Diana has a grand daughter Emma who is about 3 months younger than Ella and Diana was playing some fun bouncy games with Ella that I’m sure Emma has taught her.

Nikki B came over a little while later and brought us all Yo Gabba Gabba shirts. Just perfect for us. I didn’t get a picture of Nikki B because she always yells at me if I put in a picture without her approval.

Jordin and Kevin didn’t know about Yo Gabba Gabba, so Ella showed it to them on DVD.

AJ came late in the afternoon. Ella was just so happy to see her – of course we were too, but there’s nothing like watching Ella just stare at AJ in awe. Ella was in the kitchen with AJ and Ella said, “AJ, you’re a really good singer”. So sweet. In this picture, Ella was looking at AJ’s nails and said, “I had my nails painted too. I had red and blue nails”.

Uncle Michael came a little later. Here is Ella, Uncle Michael and cousin Normyn

AJ was reading Ella “The Rainbow Fish” right before the picture so Ella decided that under the table was her octopus cave. She tried to get Normyn to go in with her but this was as far as she would go.

Right before Ella was going to go to sleep, she went into grandma and papa’s room to brush her teeth. A few minutes later, grandma and Ella came running back into her room with their shower caps on. Grandma said that it was Ella’s idea.

Goodnight – we all needed to try and get some sleep. We had to leave at 5:00am for the airport.

It was a great trip.

Trip to Monsey

Saturday, February 2nd, 2008

Ella slept through the night last night. Of course, she went to sleep at midnight, but that’s OK – she woke up at 9:30. It was a pretty crappy day here weather wise. It was raining and gray. We had a plan to drive to Monsey and visit Sunny’s dad and have Ella meet Sunny’s brother Jerry. We drove up the Palisades and ended up at grandpa Seymour’s at around 12:30. He was really happy to see Sunny and Ella so that made the trip worth it. Uncle Jerry came in a few minutes later and he got to meet Ella for the first time. We were hoping that Ella could meet some of her cousins, but they couldn’t make it. Hopefully they will all meet next time we come here. When we came back, Ella took a nap – a very long one and woke up to some visitors here. My parent’s friend Adrienne and her daughter Caroline – one of AJ’s oldest friends came over to see Ella. Caroline is 8 months pregnant and I think this is one of the first times that we have told Ella about a baby growing in someone’s belly. I asked Ella if she wanted to touch Caroline’s belly and she was a little hesitant at first, but then she did it. I wonder what she thinks about all of this. Caroline – if you’re reading this – it was great to see you and I hope the end of your pregnancy is easy.schwartz.jpgHere is Ella, Mommy, Grandpa Seymour and Uncle Jerryjerrykiss.jpgElla getting a kiss on the keppie from Uncle Jerryfishface.jpgElla making a fish face at grandmatubsmile.jpgA big smile for grandma and papa in the bath

Oh what a night

Friday, February 1st, 2008

We had a great night tonight at AJ’s show, but the title of this entry is referring to last night (Thursday). I wrote last night that Ella was up for 12 hours and then she went to sleep at around 9:00 and that I hoped she would sleep through the night. Well…my hope was not actualized. At around 11:40, Ella woke up and at first it was just regular…”mama, where are you?” I went in and hugged her and then she started crying and asked for a bottle. She hasn’t had a bottle in months, and there were no bottles to be found in the house. I told her that we didn’t have any bottles and she went coo coo – I mean nuts – for like almost 1/2 hour. She was screaming and squirming around and crying – every once in a while she would sort of snap out of it, but it was really intense. I finally went to sleep at around 1:45 and Sunny stayed up with her. Ella calmed down and told Sunny that she wanted spaghetti so they went to the kitchen and had spaghetti and a hard boiled egg. Crazy. Sunny fell asleep with Ella on a bed in Ella’s room from around 3:00 -6:00 and then finally put Ella in her crib.

Ella was great today, but a little out of it. She was terrific at AJ’s show. She became mesmerized the second she saw AJ on stage. She snuggled up with Sunny for the first few songs and then Sunny passed her over to Grandma. Ella was mostly just chillin’ but towards the end, AJ sang one of Ella’s favorite songs “The Truth About Suffering” and Ella perked up, took her binky out of her mouth and began singing along with AJ. It was so beautiful to see. AJ and Uncle Michael were incredible. Ella got to see a lot of friends tonight and so did we and it was so great to see everyone.
